Case Study – Solar Hybrid Battery Storage Victoria – 5.0kWp Solar PV, 24kWh battery Storage
The Green Power Company installed a solar hybrid battery storage renewable energy solution that will cater for the average daily loads of the Victorian property, aiming to eliminate electricity demand from the main grid, while maintaining grid connection for required incremental shortfalls. While also maintaining enough power to provide power when the grid is down. The solar battery system is designed to offer back up power for essential services.
Hybrid System Description
2-phase hybrid system comprising of a total 5 kW PV Array stored in 24kW/h AGM battery bank.
16 x Phono Solar 250 watt poly crystalline panels at 8.6° North-east roof
4 x Phono Solar 250 watt poly crystalline panels at 270 North – West Roof
Solar Battery System Performance
The solar PV system generates an avg of 18.5kwh/day (generation will fluctuate due intermittent weather conditions and seasonal variances), and the base load will be provided by solar power, generating an Avg of 18.5kWh/day increasing to a maximum Avg in Jan of 25kWh/day and a minimum average in July of 9.3kWh/day. The 24kW GEL battery bank will be set to 50% depth of discharge providing 12kWh of available energy storage when required. Based on averages, this system will create power independence for the property, based on an 17-21kW/h Daily Load. System will require help in winter months via the grid.
