Solar Electricity Generation through out Australia

The solar electricity generation of a solar pv system will vary depending on the geographic location and configuration of the array. Performance is also determined by the quality of solar panels and inverter efficiencies, the orientation and design of the array, shading and soiling issues. The northern parts of Australia (Zone 1) has  more solar irradiance than the southern parts of Australia (zone 4) and will subsequently generate approximately 27% more solar electricity per kWp of solar panels installed.

How does solar panel tilt and orientation affect the solar output?

Shading and system design will have a significant effect on the electricity generated by a solar array. Partial shading on a single panel will affect the performance of the whole array. If shading is an issue, it is advisable to use micro-inverters which enable each panel to in isolation to each other, thereby minimizing shading issues to the affected panel only.

Solar panel performance is tested under standard test conditions (STC), with a solar irradiance of 1,000 W/m² with the panel temperature at 25°C and solar spectrum of AM 1.5.
